MetroLacrosse welcomes all types of volunteers. Experience playing or coaching lacrosse and/or working in the fields of youth development or education can be valuable, but is not necessary.


Please see our Spring Volunteer Opportunities listed below. Express your interest in these opportunities, or in MetroLacrosse in general, on the following online forms:

2010 Spring Volunteer Opportunities

Please note that Coaches Training will take place on Saturday, March 13, 2010. This year coaches’ training will feature guest speakers, lacrosse rules updates, an interactive session on practice tips, snacks, and a brief social following the training down the street at The Stadium! Team Coaches

We are recruiting girls’ and boys’ team coaches for the following types of teams:

Youth (Grades 4-6) and Junior (Grades 7-8) Teams

  • Locations: Franklin Field (Dorchester) and Chelsea High School (Chelsea)
  • Season Dates: 03/29/10 - 06/05/10
  • Commitment: Evening practices twice per week (for example, Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays) from 6-8 p.m. Games on Saturdays OR during practice times.

Mandatory Volunteer Training: Saturday, March 13, 2010

High School Team (Grades 9-12)

  • Location: Moakley Field (South Boston/Dorchester waterfront, near the MetroLacrosse office)
  • Season Dates: 03/15/10 - 05/20/10
  • Commitment: Evening practices Monday-Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Games may be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays.
  • Mandatory Volunteer Training: Saturday, March 13, 2010



Intramural Coaches

Intramural Coaches work with 3rd through 6th graders at various community centers in Boston and Chelsea. Each session involves a lacrosse clinic and fun lacrosse games. There is a set MetroLacrosse curriculum for each session, but coaches often adjust this as necessary for their participants’ skill level. We are recruiting girls’ and boys’ coaches for the following sites:

East Boston YMCA (Donald McKay School in East Boston)

  • Dates: 02/02/10 - 03/11/10
  • Commitment: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m.
  • Mandatory Volunteer Training: Saturday, March 13, 2010

Jordan Club (Boys & Girls Club in Chelsea)

  • Dates: 02/02/10 - 03/11/10
  • Commitment: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m.
  • Mandatory Volunteer Training: Saturday, March 13, 2010

West End House (Boys & Girls Club in Allston)

  • Dates: 03/16/10 - 04/15/10
  • Commitment: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Mandatory Volunteer Training: Saturday, March 13, 2010

Mattahunt Club (Boys & Girls Club in Mattapan)

  • Dates: 04/26/10 - 05/27/10
  • Commitment: Mondays and/or Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
  • Mandatory Volunteer Training: Saturday, March 13, 2010

Blue Hill Club (Boys & Girls Club in Dorchester)

  • Dates: 04/26/10 - 05/26/10
  • Commitment: Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
  • Mandatory Volunteer Training: Saturday, March 13, 2010



Additional Volunteer Opportunities
Can't coach a team or intramural program? Here are some other great ways to get involved.

  • Education Programs: MetroLacrosse is seeking volunteers to help out with its Scholastic Placement and College Springboard programs.
  • R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Referee: Attend Youth and Junior lacrosse games and evaluate the teams based on the core values of R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
  • Lacrosse Referee: MetroLacrosse is looking for certified referees who will volunteer to work at our Youth, Junior and High School games.
  • Special Events: Includes assisting with our annual tournaments and fundraising events throughout the season.
