Lacrosse Leaders
9th - 10th graders (Fall 2012)
Lacrosse Leaders (formerly known as Leadership Academy) provides MetroLacrosse players entering grades 8-10 the opportunity to use the sport of lacrosse as a vehicle to improve their communities. Daily activities for participants at MetroLacrosse Lacrosse Leaders will include intense lacrosse practices, interviews with community leaders, city-wide field trips, as well as opportunities to develop and implement their own leadership skills.
CIT Program
High School Participants and Alumni (Ages 15-19)
This summer, MetroLacrosse will provide employment opportunities for 10-15 teen participants through its Coaches-In-Training and MLK Summer Scholars Program. Coaches-In-Training provide lacrosse clinics to campers at various summer camps and partnering programs across Boston. A new addition to the CIT program this year is the MLK Summer Scholars – a professional development program that provides weekly seminars at Boston University.
You should apply to be the next Coach-In-Training and
MLK Summer Scholar!
- Learn how to be a coach and receive individual instruction on how to strengthen your teaching skills!
- Become an expert at working with children in a fast paced, active environment!
- Gain management experience as you map out coaching plans, design programs and work directly with service partners!
- Strengthen your own skills by participating in professional development workshops designed by the John Hancock Corporation at Boston University through the MLK Summer Scholars!
- Earn a summer stipend of $1,200 in eight weeks!
Who is eligible to apply?
- Current and former MetroLacrosse participants who have completed at least one Spring Season and are 15-19 years old.
- MetroLacrosse participants who demonstrate a strong level of commitment and responsibility through their attendance and RESPECT standings.
What are you committing to?
Being a Coach-In-Training and an MLK Scholar is a big commitment. The job is approximately 20 hours a week with little scheduling flexibility. CITs and MLK Scholars must be able to attend the following:
- There will be no overnight training retreat as previously announced.
- Press conference to kick off the MLK Scholars program
- Friday Seminars - MLK Scholars Seminars taking place each consecutive Friday from July 8th to August 19th from 9:00am to 11:30am.
Please note: Players who have conflicts in their schedule during training or during either session must make those clear in their application. The C.I.T. program is a full commitment, and there is little flexibility in the schedule. Your availability for the full session and training will impact the status of your application.
Please check back in May 2012 for more information regarding how to apply for Summer 2012 programs.
