MetroLacrosse is honored to be one of the official charities chosen by the Boston Athletic Association® to participate in the 2008 Boston Marathon®. The money and awareness raised by MetroLacrosse's runners helps MetroLacrosse provide free afterschool and summer programs to over 500 youth in the underserved urban neighborhoods of Boston, East Cambridge, and Chelsea. MetroLacrosse's mission is to build upon lessons learned while playing a team sport to teach youth the values and skills of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. - Responsibility, Effort, Sportsmanship, Participation, Enthusiasm, Communication and Teamwork. Find out more about MetroLacrosse on our home page at www.metrolacrosse.com.
As an official charity of the Boston Athletic Association®, MetroLacrosse receives 15 numbers to give out to runners who have not qualified on their own for the Boston Marathon®. All runners must raise a minimum of $3,000 for MetroLacrosse (and hopefully much more!). MetroLacrosse has high expectations of its runners. Runners must be prepared to fundraise extensively, train hard, and be passionate about our team and our mission.
Already qualified? Join our team anyway! You won't have to meet the fundraising requirements, but the money you do raise will go to a good cause and you'll enjoy being part of our team.
If you have questions about the 2008 Boston Marathon®, please contact Carly Himmelstein at 617-288-9898 x103.
Many thanks and congratulations to MetroLacrosse's 2007 Boston Marathon® team!
Despite the wind and rain, MetroLacrosse's 2007 Boston Marathon team did a tremendous job running the 26.2 Boston Marathon and raising funds for MetroLacrosse. Collectively, the team raised over $80,000! Special thanks to Bob Crowley, who ran a double marathon that day (54.2 miles from Boston to Hopkinton and back again!) and raised over $16,000 for MetroLacrosse.
